Textural Properties Characterization for NaX and FeX Zeolites by Nitrogen Adsorption-desorption Technique
...Show More Authors

The zeolite's textural properties have a significant effect on zeolite's effectiveness in the different industrial processes. This research aimed to study the textual properties of the NaX and FeX zeolites using the nitrogen adsorption-desorption technique at a constant low temperature. According to the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry, the adsorption-desorption isotherm showed that the studied materials were mixed kinds I/II isotherms and H3 type hysteresis. The Brunauer-Emmett-Teller isotherm was the best model to describe the nitrogen adsorption-desorption better than the Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms. The obtained adsorption capacity and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface area values for NaX were greater than FeX. Ac

Boosting catalytic performance in ZSM-5 (50) catalyst cracking: microwave and Taguchi method with nitrogen activation
...Show More Authors

Microwave power has a more significant effect on cracking with less energy consumption. The microwave power and the catalysis increase the racking rate and the conversion at lower temperatures.  Accordingly, the generated hot spots in the catalyst offer a suitable condition for cracking (high rate and low temperature). The microwave technique was used to conduct the cracking of heavy naphtha. A set of experiments was done with microwave power (750–1250 W), preheating temperatures (150–250 ˚C), and space velocities (2–6 l/hr) with and without nitrogen injection. The nitrogen injection enhanced the conversion for all situations. The best result has a conversion of 47.37% with nitrogen injection at microwave power of 1250 W, a flow

Production and Evaluation of Biodiesel from Sheep Fats Waste
...Show More Authors

Animal fats are a good, promising and ethical alternative source for biodiesel production, but they need more complex treatments than vegetable oils. Iraqi butchery plants waste fats (sheep fat) which are suggested as feedstock to produce biodiesel. This type of fat contains a large quantity of free fatty acids (FFAs) (acid number 49.13 mg KOH/g of fat). The direct transesterification of such fats produce high amount of soap instead of desired biodiesel, so a pre-treatment step (to reduce FFAs) is necessary before transesterification. This step was done by esterification of the free fatty acids in the fat by adding ethanol and using 1% acid catalyst (H2SO4) for 30 minutes. The results showed that the acid number of sheep fat after pre-tr
