APPLICATION OF OVASCAN AND PROGESTERONE CONCENTRATION FOR PREDICTION OF OVULATION DURING ESTRUS IN THE MARE
...Show More Authors

The estrous cycle of 8 Arabian mares was followed for one year, by visual observation of the estrous behaviour and by teasing with a stallion. Serum progesterone concentration was determined by RIA, Vaginal electric resistence was studied with aid of Ovascan, comapared with the changes in the reproductive tract as determined by rectal examination for prediction of ovulation. The changes in the reproductive tract and the behavioural manifestations expressed during the cycle indicated that the experimental mares were exhibiting estrous year arround, however, 75% of the cycles were observed during the months from March to August and 25% during the. rest of the year. The total number of cycles exhibited by the mares averaged 68 cycles, of th

A laboratory Study On The Effect Of Temperature And pH On The Stability Of Tilmicosin
...Show More Authors

The effect of temperature and pH on the stability of the antibacterial
“tilmicosin” was evaluated in this study. The temperature degrees studied were
25 , 45 and 65 oC each for 24 hours , while the pH values studied were 6 , 7 and
8 each at room temperature and for 24 hours also.
A microbiological assay method was employed for analysis of the collected
samples.
The results of analysis indicate significant drop in activity of the drug as a
results of exposure to temperature or pH.
The above mentioned results necessitate the maintenance of drinking water in
the storage depots of the field below 65 oC especially in summer season, so to
keep the chemical structure of the drug and to offer enough therapeutic<

helminthes was 50.54%. The peak of Nematode infection was 86.6% in
Spring followed by 57.5% .during Autumn then the infection declined in
Summer and Winter to 33.73% and 22.5% respectively Four genera of
parasitic nematodes were identified the highest rate of infection with
Strongylus was recorded in horses 49.54% followed by Parascris 14.09%,
the lowest infection with Trichostrongylus and Oxyuris was 9.09 % and

Thirty two mice were used to study the histopathological changes resulted
from the effect of vitamin C on the some mice tissues treated with nitrate.
Mice were divided randomly in to four equal groups. The 1st group was given
Vit C and potassium nitrate via water. The 2nd group was given potassium nitrate
and the 3rd group received Vit C only, while the 4th group represented the
control.
Two animals from each group were scarified weekly. The results showed
similar pathological changes in the 1st and 2nd group especially in the stomach

Bacterial Contamination in the Components of the Chickens' Eggs: S. A. Abed, S.M. Heeder , Z.G.Mohammed
...Show More Authors

In 120 hen eggs ( local eggs , hatching eggs and table eggs ) a bacteriological
pollution with high rate was observed by isolating 427 bacterial isolates from
which 199 isolates related to the egg's shell , 117 isolates related to albumen sac,
and 111 isolates related to yolk sac .
The Salmonella ssp isolates were the greater number (142 isolates) ,
Echerichia coli ( 138 isolates ) , Streptococcus ssp ( 89 isolated) and lately
Staphylococcus ssp ( 58 isolates ) which was never isolated from internal egg
components (Albumen Sac and yolk sac) .
The study explains that the shell of the egg is more contaminated than
Albumen Sac and yolk sac and that the table egg is more contaminated than the
other groups.

The objective of this study is to determine the effectiveness of banana leafs as a wound dressing in rabbits. Ten adults local breed male rabbits weighing between 1.5 – 2 kg were used. The animals were divided into two equal groups. Animals were anesthetized by xylazine 5 mg / kg BW mixed with ketamine 40 mg / kg BW intramuscularly. Under aseptic technique (4-6) avulsion wounds 1cm in diameter were made on the back region of each rabbit. Control group didn’t receive any treatment, while the treated group the wounds were covered by the banana leaf as poultice for 14 days. Histopathological and gross evaluation revealed that there are significant differences between the two groups, because banana leaf provides a clean, waxy non adheren

At 72 hours post-infection in third passage, the cytopathic effect was characterized by rounding up of cells, monolayer detachment, intracytoplasmic brownish colouration was readily observed by immunoperoxidase from 24hours p.i in third passage, and at all times the extracted viral RNA from IBV-infected monolayers was demonstrated by RT-PCR. In the present work, the antinociceptive action was assayed in several experiment models in mice, Hot plate, writhing and formalin test. The alcoholic extract of MP leaves at a dose of 150mg/kg B.W and 300 mg/kgB.W showed antinociceptive effects in different methods, where the dose of 300 mg/kg B.W showed significant reduction of the nociception by acetic acid. In the formalin test, the extract (300mg/kg B.W) also significantly reduced painful stimulus in both phases of the test. Treatment with extract (300mg/kg B.W) when given orally produced significant increase of the reaction time in hot plate test. These results showed that the leaves extract of MP contain active analgesic principles acting both centrally and peripherally.
