Mushroom farming has become important globally due to its nutritional, economic and environmental value. The economic threat to productivity and food safety caused by contamination of filamentous microfungi is not effectively dealt with for the long term. This essay presents a useful, thematic synthesis of the kinds of microfungal contaminants, where do these come from, how are they infecting the cultivated edible mushrooms and how they could be controlled sustainably especially post-harvest and integrated management. The authors performed a methodological narrative literature review based on thematic analysis framework using main scientific databases on fungal contaminants, their contamination pathways and respective management methods. The results were thematically categorized into systems of cultivation, diversity of pathogen and pathogenic mechanisms, detection methods and controls. The results show that Trichoderma, Aspergillus, Penicillium and Cladobotryum are common economic contaminants. Contamination at key points can occur during spawns, casing, and after-harvest handling and storage due to poor hygiene, insufficient sterilization as well as environmental condition. These fungi slow the growth of mushroom mycelia by growing at a faster rate, enzyme degradation and/or mycotoxin production, which is an important risk for food safety and human health which isn’t very much thought-of actively. The research points out that there has been no objective quantification of risk from mycotoxins and no harmonized, in situ detection of contaminated mushrooms. An Integrated Disease Management (IDM) approach comprising of preventive, physical, biological and minimal chemical interventions is recommended for effective and sustainable management of disease-causing insect pest. Future studies should place special emphasis on creating real-time molecular diagnostics, effective and environmentally safe biocontrol agents, and eco-friendly environmental control systems to protect the safety and sustainability of global mushroom production.
A survey and identification were made of edible mushrooms from Salah Al Din Province, central of Iraq, were conducted. The species were identified according to macroscopic characteristics, such as the size, shape, color, and surface texture of the cap; the color of the gills and their attachment to the stipe, if any, the number of pores per millimeter; and the color, size , and surface texture of the stipe. Other features noted included the presence or absence of the annulus and volva; Microscopic characteristics were also examined, including the sizeof the basidium and the number of its spores; the color, size, and shape of the spores; the size, shape, and type of cystidia, and whether cystidia were present or absent. Nine basidiom

This comprehensive review integrates cutting-edge research from 2015-2024 with Iraqi epidemiological data to address significant knowledge gaps in regional surveillance and global comparative analysis. Recent discoveries include five novel Listeria species in 2021, revolutionary whole genome sequencing (WGS) surveillance systems, and advanced understanding of RNA-mediated regulation. Iraqi prevalence data reveals concerning patterns with rates ranging from 3.5% to 93.8% across different sample types, substantially higher than global averages. Critically, Iraqi isolates demonstrate alarming antibiotic resis

Show MoreTo date, comprehensive reviews and discussions of the strengths and limitations of Remote Sensing (RS) standalone and combination approaches, and Deep Learning (DL)-based RS datasets in archaeology have been limited. The objective of this paper is, therefore, to review and critically discuss existing studies that have applied these advanced approaches in archaeology, with a specific focus on digital preservation and object detection. RS standalone approaches including range-based and image-based modelling (e.g., laser scanning and SfM photogrammetry) have several disadvantages in terms of spatial resolution, penetrations, textures, colours, and accuracy. These limitations have led some archaeological studies to fuse/integrate multip

Show MoreThe provision of safe water for people is a human right; historically, a major number of people depend on groundwater as a source of water for their needs, such as agricultural, industrial or human activities. Water resources have recently been affected by organic and/or inorganic contaminants as a result of population growth and increased anthropogenic activity, soil leaching and pollution. Water resource remediation has become a serious environmental concern, since it has a direct impact on many aspects of people’s lives. For decades, the pump-and-treat method has been considered the predominant treatment process for the remediation of contaminated groundwater with organic and inorganic contaminants. On the other side, this tech

GA has been used in different sectors of construction and building however that is rarely documented. This research aimed to examine the utilisation of genetic algorithms in construction project management. For this purpose, the research focused on the benefits and challenges of genetic algorithms, and the extent to which genetic algorithms is utilised in construction project management. Results showed that GA provides an ability of generating near optimal solutions which can be adopted to reduce complexity in project management and resolve difficult problem

Dexamethasone, according to the findings of the RECOVERY clinical trial, declared mid-June 2020 in print media was one of those therapies. Although the results from retrospective studies are not strongly supportive of corticosteroid routine use in COVID-19 despite the signals for some benefits, the dedicated RECOVERY trial found a significant reduction in death with dexamethasone only in severe cases on a ventilator or moderate cases on supplemental oxygen therapy nevertheless, no benefit observed in mild to moderate cases requiring no oxygen. However, selection of the geo-material that fits site conditions and soil type is crucial to achieving the success of the overall performance of such improvement. Also, the road life and cost construction are significant keys for evaluating this type of ground treatment. This paper presents an overview of the subgrade strengthening with geosynthetics to acquire a better understanding of the technique and to provide a clear guide for transportation and geotechnical engineers. The rutting failure along with its main causes are highlighted briefly. The types of geosynthetics, their applications and
